Essence of the Notion “Communicative Approach” in the Modern Foreign Language Teaching Methodology

The purpose of the study is to substantiate advisability relying on a communicative approach in foreign language teaching methodology at universities. paper determines prerequisites for emergence methodology; clarifies principles formulated by E. I. Passov’s Lipetsk Methodological School regarding education; systematises researchers’ views component composition university students’ competence; presents theoretical integrative model proposes technology formation linguistic, speech, linguopragmatic and sociocultural components competence. Scientific novelty lies elaborating competence As result study, author substantiates from standpoint goal-setting, i.e. competence, technology, involving use set communicative-oriented tasks learning process that are aimed development competencies.
